Recognizing that many individuals and not-for-profit organizations are in need of legal assistance, the attorneys at Phillips Lytle are proud to undertake pro bono work for those who cannot afford to pay.

The firm encourages its partners, special counsel and associates to provide pro bono services. They represent pro bono clients in a variety of important legal matters: domestic violence, tenant evictions, unemployment insurance, and victims of unfair debt collection practices.

Phillips Lytle is actively involved in providing pro bono services across the firm network: Erie County Bar and Monroe County Bar Associations' Volunteer Lawyers Projects; Chautauqua County Legal Services Corporation; the Legal Aid Society of Greater New York; and the Women's Law Center.

Below you will find the formal pro bono policy that currently exists at Phillips Lytle:

Phillips Lytle Pro Bono Policy

In keeping with American Bar Association resolutions, we have adopted the following statement of policy regarding pro bono activities:

  • All partners and associates are urged to devote a reasonable amount of time, but no less than 50 hours per year, to pro bono and other public service activities that served those individuals or organizations in need or to improve the law, the legal system, the legal profession, or the quality of life in the communities in which the firm maintains offices.
