Concerns about global warming, financial incentives, and pressure from government and consumers to generate more energy from renewable sources are creating exceptional opportunities for energy providers, developers, and investors. By 2013, at least 25% of New York’s energy production is to come from renewable sources, which translates into an estimated 40,000 GWh per year. To that end, the Federal government and the State are simultaneously offering financial incentives for the construction of renewable facilities, while also boosting demand for this energy through an organized publicity campaign and market-based initiatives.
This commitment to increase both supply and demand for renewable energy amounts to an unprecedented opportunity for stakeholders who build, manage, and invest in these projects in New York. Phillips Lytle has the resources necessary to move these opportunities forward.
WIND ENERGY Wind power is one of the most favored renewable energy sources, and New York State is looking at as many as 72 new facilities by 2013. Phillips Lytle currently represents BQ Energy on their 20-megawatt Steel Winds brownfield project in Western New York, and was able to obtain all local environmental approvals and development permits within 90 days, a process that can take between two and four years.
